Coronavirus (goes best with Lime Disease) has been rapidly spreading around the globe and causing irrational panic. There are nearly 100,000 confirmed cases and 3,381 deaths. Nearly every store and website is sold out of N95 masks...used to protect the wearer from airborne particles and from liquid contaminating the face. 3M is ramping up production and the US government plans to stockpile nearly 1 billion N95 masks.
However, this is causing a massive shortage for hospital personnel who actually need the masks. People don't realize that the mask won't necessarily protect you from getting the Coronavirus. It is only recommended to wear an N95 mask if you already have the virus.
According to Leora Horwitz, a doctor and director at the Center for Healthcare Innovation, all the buzz is for nothing, because the masks don’t protect people from catching a virus. Plus, Horwitz shared her experience with a tedious face mask test that she is required to pass ever year, which suggests that most of us have no clue how to use them.
